My name is Amy Evans, and I teach Technology and STEM at Holy Cross Academy. I earned my BSEd in Early Childhood Education at West Chester University and my MAEd in Administration and Supervision at Georgian Court University.
My certifications include:
NJ State Teacher, Supervisor and Principal
Level 2 Google Educator
Project Lead the Way certified instructor
As a techology / STEM teacher, my main goal is to encourage students to think critically and use their knowledge and available tools to solve problems. Students often doubt that they can create solutions on their own, but when they are encouraged to try and then succeed, their self-confidence goes through the roof!
In the Tech/STEM lab, students in Grades K through 5:
create, learn and build through Project Lead The Way STEM curriciulum https://www.pltw.org/
Building on this foundation, Grades 6-8:
progress their keyboarding skills
solve internet-based skill puzzles
practice research techniques
create visual presentations
apply Google Tools
build simple computers utilizing Raspberry Pi
Working in Catholic school has given me the opportunity to help students learn and grow in both knowledge and faith. I am thankful to work in a community that is more than just a school - it feels like an extended family.
